ESA Training

Challenge and Success must work together to provide the best environment for player growth.

Educational

Our training is based on the level of each player and how we can best meet their needs.  We want to place players in the most age appropriate group that will allow them to achieve success while also challenging them individually.

Long Term Development

Limit travel and focus on development.  True progress takes time so we have developed a  balanced training-first approach.  This way we can focus on quality training of skills that can lead to long-term success.  High training to game ratio.  Provide the right competition at the right time.

Academy

Many clubs use academy as a broad term to define the development programs for their youth teams.  Our academy is solely focused on a step by step process for our players to develop at an appropriate rate.  We consider ourselves a soccer school rather than a soccer club.

Consistent

Model

Player development will always take priority over short-term results.  A consistent training curriculum that will foster a fun environment for learning across every team in our academy. Using methods such as the Play-Practice-Play method as well as Build-Up method will allow our players to be exposed to structured training principles and phases of play.

U7-U9

Build foundational principles of soccer in every player.  Focus on technical skill growth and exposure to the game with lots of small sided play.  Introduce players to team tactics but the focus is technical development.

U10-U12

Continue to build confidence on the ball via technical training.    Begin to incorporate tactical awareness and on-field vocabulary more consistently through teamwork.  Build upon mental growth and train leadership skills that can apply to each player's future on and off the pitch.

U13-U15

Technical training never stops as we want to continue to build our skills.  Train the various phases of the game and tactical game management. Continue to build on the consistent vocabulary used to gain awareness and team IQ.  Players begin applying leadership skills on and off the pitch by servicing their community.

U15+

Continue to support our academy players in their pursuit of the game beyond our academy.  Provide technical and tactical training that support high school programs and establish connections to collegiate level and post-collegiate level play.

"Let us say that you and I coached two teams with kids all about equally good.  You try to teach them to play good soccer, a passing game with tactical basics while I tell mine only to play long balls and try to shoot.  At first, I will always win against you....If we, however, continue with the same training methods during a three year period, your team will have learned how to play while mine hasn't."

Loreano Ruiz

Spanish Soccer Legend

"For me it's irrelevant if coaches win state cups, regional cups and national cups.  How many trophies they have in their cabinet isn't important. It's about the kids, it's not about you. We care about how many players you develop, not how many tournaments you win."

Claudio Reyna

National Soccer Hall of Fame Player

"I let all youth teams play the same way, like the first team.  I always put the emphasis on learning.  Sometimes I had the suspicion that youth coaches are more concerned with winning.  They cared more about their own reputation......when a player with talent couldn't defend I put him in defense so he could learn.  I didn't care if it cost points, I was busy developing the player."
